To be honest, I had no plans for Syko Motorsport in 2023, but as usual in my life, things just fall into place. 4nRota Nationals was an event I would've shown face at but wild weather and floods in Auckland ruined that. I got married in late February where I used my drift car to drive me and my best man. Always wanted to have one of cars on display at my wedding so yeah, i was proud of that one. Exactly one week after the wedding, we moved from West Auckland into a lifestyle property we brought in with family, which just so happens to come with the shed of all dreams.
The Syko Motorsport Headquarters is now a 12m x 6m, 4metres height workshop situated in Wainui. The space was a blank canvas with one powerpoint and terrible lighting so work begin almost immediately with insulating and lining the walls. 4 weeks later after many late nights, I have myself the dream workshop, with great lighting. Thank you to Scott Electrical Wholesalers Sales St for supplying all the security and electrical gear. I still have more to add including a tyre rack and photo mural.
This workshop space is perfect for the restoration of my OG street car, which hasn't seen the road since 2020 and has been untouched in almost a year. I'm halfway through this restoration with a lack of motivation being the main reason as to why its still not complete but I'm looking forward to getting that ball rolling again.
The last time i was behind the wheel was back in the final round of the 2022 MSC challenge, pretty much 6months ago now. Now that my honeymoon is over, I'm keen to go drifting!
Heres some of the events i have planned for the next few months;
11th June Rotationals X repco (Mt Smart stadium)
17th June MMdriftforce (Hampton Downs Club Cirucit)
15th July Old School Meet (Hooton Reserve)
30th July Meguiar's coffee and cars (Mt Smart stadium)
4th-6th August Chrome (Hampton Downs)
Hope to see you all at these events!!!!
