Wow! What an experience the MSC challenge is.
I was worried getting into competitive drifting was going to ruin the fun but the whole atmosphere and the share amount of track time was great. I felt privileged to drift with big names i’ve always respected and i am glad i got to showcase my skills.
The supra was a underdog!!! With less than 200kw at the crank, it was by far to most underpowered car on the grid, We also were limited on steering angle compared to the rest of field, what i did have over the rest was reliability. Not a single problem with the supra over the four rounds which i wasn’t too surprised with because that was the biggest focus of the build.
Our final battle of the season was the craziest, qualifying 16th in round 4 meant i was up against number one qualifier and series points leader, Jordan Joyce. Knowing i was most likely losing, i told my team i wasn’t going to hold back and just go ‘full send’. It worked because i stuck it to Jordan’s door and forced my first competition OMT (One More Time). I got even closer in my OMT battle and won a vote from the highly respected Formula drift judge, Robbie Nishida, while the other two judges went with another OMT!!!
The second OMT battle was definitely my best driving, My chase was perfect but Jordan knuckled down and gave it straight back giving him the win. Jordan went on to win round 4 and win the MSC championship, well deserved.
I got a lot from experience and I’m excited for whats next. I’m young and motivated and i will keep pushing.
Thanks Sky Zhao, the judges, the MSC crew and my fellow competitors. Massive thanks to my pit crew, my dad Lance, Lucas Burborough, Michael Barton and Kelan Keating.
